In June 1962, this College of Education was set up and came to be known as the ‘Sadhana School of Educational Research and Training’. In 1977 it was renamed as ‘Smt. Kapila Khandvala Institution of Education’ to respect and celebrate the memory of Smt. Kapilaben Khandvala, a famous character in the field of Education. The College is a perceived Gujarati etymological minority foundation.
It is smarter to light a flame than to revile haziness” was the adage of the organizers Shri Vishnuprasad Desai, the then Mayor of Bombay, Shri C. M. Trivedi, Smt. Kapila Khandvala and Dr. Madhuri Shah, whose truthfulness of direction even with chances didn’t hinder them from running after the reason for training. Afterward, humanitarians, industrialists, business magnates and social laborers, to give some examples – Shri Jayant Dalal, Shri G. L. Raheja, Shri C. L. Raheja and Shri Hans Bhugra turned into the undetectable columns on which Sadhana Education Society thrived, extended and created in the three resources of Arts, Commerce and Education.”
