Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College was set up by the Nankana Sahib Education Trust. NSET was established in memory of the most holy sanctuary of Nankana Sahib, origination of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Amritsar, a head association of all inclusive fraternity, was the fundamental power behind the mission of “Removal of Economic Backwardness through Technology”.With this mission, a Polytechnic was begun in 1953 and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College was set up in 1956. The Trust deed was enrolled on 24th February 1953 with a dedication by The Nankana Sahib Education Trust to elevate the tremendous more vulnerable segment of Indian country involving Rural India by conceding 70% understudies each year from Rural Areas. This dedication was made to the country on eighth April, 1956. The day when establishment stone of the College Building was laid by Late Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ji, the First President of India.Nearly 10,000 alumni and 3000 Post Graduate Engineers have dropped from this school during the most recent 50 years and are at present effectively utilized in India and abroad.The school is currently ISO 9001-2008 Certified, NBA licensed and have marked MoU with IOWA University for trade of understudies and personnel.
The College was before associated with Panjab University, Chandigarh since starting.
