Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad was set up in August 1982 by Act of the State Legislature. It was introduced by the President of India. The organizer and first chancellor was Prof. G. Slam Reddy.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad was renamed “Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University” on 24 October 1991 after the draftsman of the Indian Constitution Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar on the event of the century of his introduction to the world.

The Science Practicals in the future will be directed at the Newly built Science and Technology Multi-Functional Lab (STML) working at the Campus all under one rooftop.
The Narla Memorial Library is additionally housed in the Academic Building. A Multimedia Lab, Two Synergy Halls, an all-around outfitted Faculty Room, and a Language Lab have additionally been set up in the Academic Building. All the structures on the grounds are connected by the LAN office.
