Career prospects in Pharma

In the field of pharmacy, many opportunities of employment are being opened through Diploma in Pharmacy and Bachelor in Pharmacy. The demand of these courses in the field of healthcare in the country has also been enormous. There are so many opportunities for young people who wish to pursue careers in Pharmacy.  

Drug business is increasing among the vast population of the country and the world and the drug industry, also known as the Pharma Industry, has expanded from research and development to manufacturing, clinical trials and genetic drugs after liberalization. From the production and distribution of drugs to packaging, marketing and management, these are important components of all pharmaceutical activities. India's involvement in the global level is important and thus Most of the pharma companies get an opportunity to grow and flourish in this country. According to an estimate, around five lakh people are employed in this area today and in the days to come, the demand for pharma experts and people related to it will increase. Keeping these requirements in mind, Courses such as D.Pharma and B.Pharma have been of enormous importance in the country.

 

Preparation

In order to come to this area, the student has to be prepared mentally from the 10th standard, because it is necessary to study subjects related to Medical Science for admission in Pharma courses. Students should have studied biology, chemistry, zoology etc. in XII with a minimum of fifty percent marks. Admission is usually given on the basis of cut off. Different admission procedures for admission in D Pharma and B.Pharma are adopted.

 

Courses in Pharmacy

Normally the institutes have a diploma course in the field of pharmacy for two years. In this, the students are taught the basics related to the pharmacy. Another degree course at the graduation level is a 4 year bachelor degree course which is B Pharma. Within four years, students are taught in detail about various aspects of pharmaceutical science. At the PG level, the phase of specialization begins in M Pharma. In this, the students are especially skilled in the field of pharmacology, pharmaceuticals, hospital pharmacy, quality insurance, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical research, quality improvement program, pharmaceutical management and herbal drug technology. Ph D has to work on research on drugs and drug related other areas.

 

Work area

For marketing of general products where direct dealer or customer has to contact, a doctor is also a key link in the marketing of medicines. It is necessary to satisfy the doctors about medicines, only then they write it in prescriptions given to patients. It is the knowledge of the drug specialist which helps the doctors to decide that which medicines will be effective in the treatment of the disease. New drugs have to be developed in the days of research by him. Therefore, for working in Pharma Management, with the knowledge of the materials and technology used in the development and production of drugs it is also expected that one should have knowledge of the sale of medicines. People with this type of talent have to play their part in the production of drugs, from marketing to distribution. Pharmacists are specially placed in hospitals, dispensaries and medical stores for this purpose. Apart from this, it has to come forward as a Medical Representative and Marketing Officer to make the market place.

 

Salary in Pharma Industry

B Pharma degree holders usually get jobs of 25 to 30 thousand in the market. Students, who do the diploma in this, get 15 to 20 thousand rupees per month at the initial level in sales and marketing work at Medical Centre or Chemist Shop. Students of research level are given 30 to 40 thousand per month package.

 

The possibilities

After doing a Pharmacy Course, one can get a job in Research and Development. Also, one can work in sales and marketing departments in pharmaceuticals and manufacturing companies. With the increase in the proportion of population, the pharma industry is expanding. Today private hospitals, nursing homes and clinics are in every nook and corner of the country. Government hospitals are also expanding and eventually, the demand for pharma specialists is increasing.   There are more than 23 thousand Registered Pharmaceutical Companies in India (around 300 are in the organized sector). According to estimates, about five lakh people have got jobs in this area.

Marketing executives, product executives, business executives, production chemists, quality control and insurance executives have the opportunity to work in private companies.

After M Pharma, the scope as Scientist and Research Officer in Pharmacy field are there who can also work in Government sector or with big multinational pharmaceutical manufacturers.
